Opening in 1998 as Ontario’s first permanent Casino, this project established the gold standard for the region’s gaming industry. The expansion due to open in 2008 challenged the same design team to incorporate a second hotel, a Ballroom and a flexible Entertainment Centre capable of accommodating a wide range of functions ranging from 5,000 seat concerts to “flat floor” trade and convention events, all the while ensuring a seamless connection to the original hotel and Casino.
Designed to be highly visible from across the river in Detroit, it is grounded in Windsor, with attention paid to massing, sidewalk animation, streetscape, and landscaping to ensure a comfortable fit with the existing urban fabric. The fully completed project will include almost 800 hotel rooms, 12,300 m² of gaming floor, 1,470 restaurant seats in 6 venues, 8,000 m² of meeting/convention space and parking for over 3,000 cars.
