The design of the Space Agency celebrates the spirit and vitality of Canada’s national space program. A gently curving linear circulation spine, the “Scientists Walk,” organizes and connects all spaces within the building. Its design inspired by early satellites, the entry rotunda exhibits a to-scale representation of the solar system in a combination of granite and marble flooring. On the exterior, the complex is clad in a sleek aero-dynamic metal skin. Three levels of security limit access to highly secure building functions.
A 28,000 m² facility built on a $50M budget, the CSA headquarters includes 12,000 m² of specialized research and laboratory space and a 7,000 m² conference and exhibit centre.
