Situated on a 370-hectare site in the northwest outskirt of Kuwait City, Kuwait University’s new University City will accommodate 30,000 full-time students by 2025. Affiliated campuses for men and for women will house 14 colleges and supporting facilities as well as four medical colleges and a teaching hospital.
The focal point for the men’s and women’s campuses is the Palm Forest, an Oasis over 1 kilometre in length, planted with a dense grid of palm trees. The Student Galleria, a weather-protected pedestrian street animated by cafes, student commons and other shared uses, will link all colleges and be the main path of travel for students within the campus. At the heart of each campus, a student centre will face on to the centrally-located Student Square. Formal Arrival Gardens create a ceremonial approach to each campus. All parking is located on the perimeter of the university creating a truly pedestrian environment at the campus core.
