Parkway Forest Re-urbanization Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Client:EL-AD Group Canada
Scope of Service:Full Architectural Services
Status:In Progress

A direct response to the need to develop more sustainable communities within the framework of existing urban fabric to combat urban sprawl, this project takes on the challenge of transforming and “re-urbanizing” a community first built 40 years ago as a suburb, but which now finds itself at the nexus of subway and highway infrastructure.

The masterplan carefully integrates new towers ranging from 25 to 36 storeys, five to seven storey street-edge podium elements, and townhouses with the existing apartment buildings. In all, 2,200 new condominium units and 332 rental replacement units will be built. Landscaped walkways will link the urban northern edge of the community with the expanded Public Park and new Community Centre to the south.
