The Abraj Quartier is a major component of an ambitious mixed-use development that will house over 30,000 people on an artificial island, “The Pearl”, constructed in the waters of the Gulf. A blend of traditional and contemporary design motifs and prominently located at the entrance of the causeway linking island and mainland, the Abraj Quartier consists of seven residential towers—five of 36 storeys and two of 40 storeys; the latter straddling the access road to the mainland and forming the “gateway” to the Pearl. In addition to the towers’ 2,000 residential units, the project includes 200 waterfront townhouses. Over 350,000 m² of building area and 160,000 m² of decked parking for 5,000 cars occupy this 13 hectare site.
