EY Tower in the news
EY Tower featured in today's Daily Commercial News.
WZMH is the Executive Architect working with Kohn Pedersen Fox as design consultant for the new EY Tower at 100 Adelaide Street West, now well under construction at the corner of Adelaide Street West and Sheppard Street. The 40-storey tower is the final phase of the build-out of a five-tower, full city block development in Toronto’s downtown financial core. Completing a composition with two adjacent towers, it frames a south-facing sunlit plaza, a popular outdoor space for the occupants of the surrounding buildings. With a distinctive sculptural form, the building’s rooftop silhouette is visible from both the heart of the financial core at King and Bay Streets and Nathan Phillips Square at Toronto City Hall. The project includes the sensitive integration of the historic 16-storey Concourse Building, designed in the Art Deco style, that features a mosaic frieze and tympanum at the front entrance by Group of Seven artist J.E.H. Macdonald. Connected to the downtown underground PATH system, the project is targeting LEED Platinum. WZMH was previously responsible for the design of two new buildings and the retrofit of one heritage building on the same site and is beginning work on another building.
