Google to Occupy WZMH’s 65 King Street East Tower

A new 18-storey office tower located at 65 King Street East, designed by WZMH and IBI Group for Carttera Private Equities, is set to have Google as its tenant taking over the entire 400,000 ft2 of new office space. With an expected completion of late 2021, the leasing agreement that was announced in early 2020 represents part of Google’s Canadian expansion, tripling their national workforce.

The building is located just steps way from Toronto’s downtown central business district. The tower incorporates the facades of five 3-storey heritage buildings, which will feature retail and restaurant uses on King Street. The massing has been carefully sculpted to avoid any shading on the historic St James Cathedral site to the northwest. This sculpting allows for numerous roof terraces, which will provide a significant amenity for tenants. The project also includes 4 levels of below grade parking, an underground connection to the adjacent Albany Club, and anticipates future PATH and Enwave connections.
