Les Promenades Gatineau Wins Big at ICSC Awards!

Les Promenades Gatineau, located in Gatineau, Québec, has been honoured with two Gold Awards at the 2016 International Council of Shopping Centres Canadian Shopping Centre Awards. The wins were in the Expansions & Renovations and the Grand Opening categories.

The project, on which Pellow + Associates Architects (now merged with WZMH) worked in joint venture with NEUF Architectes (NEUF) of Montréal, with design by Pappas Design Studios, is a $110M major renovation and expansion to the former Les Promenades de l’Ouataouis, an existing 88,250sm regional shopping centre.

Les Promenades Gatineau includes eight new mall entrances, a complete common area renovation with an easy-to-find customer service counter, washroom renovations and a reconfigured and expanded fully eco-friendly food court with 13 tenants and seating for 745.

The existing mall, when purchased by Oxford Properties, was a tired building that had been developed in phases over a number of years with very little coordination of finishes or building systems. The major renovation replaced all interior finishes with a new up-do-date, coordinated design.

The repositioning of a former 7500sm Kmart store into a new state-of-the-art Simons fashion store, along with new tenants H&M and Forever 21, have lifted the profile of the mall and it is once again the predominant regional mall in Western Québec.
