Schematic Design and Compliance

The contemporary architectural design of the A. Grenville and William Davis (Brampton) courthouse is based on a dynamic composition of glazed and solid areas that express the permanence and dignity of the court, as well as its openness and accessibility to the public it serves. Large expanses of glass bring views and daylight into courtroom waiting areas, providing calm to what can often be a stressful environment. Located close to the street edge, the building presents a prominent face to the community and acts as a gateway to the city of Brampton. The facility’s comprehensive, security-conscious design provides three separate circulation systems for the public, judges and the accused. The five-storey building houses thirty-four courts and eight motion rooms for both the Ontario and Superior Courts of Justice. WZMH provided Schematic Design and Compliance services for this Design Build Delivery.
