The Canadian headquarters campus for this global pharmaceutical company includes manufacturing, administrative and distribution warehouse facilities located in a number of buildings. Initially, WZMH was responsible for producing a master site plan study of viable alternatives for a new administrative facility that would be consistent with staffing projections through 2020.

Phase 1 of the Canadian Business Centre project involved the consolidation and expansion of on-site administrative functions into a five-storey building that included a full-height central atrium with a 400 m² floor area. This building is separated from the existing multi-use building that was partially demolished to make way for the new construction by means of a two-storey galleria that serves as an interior amenity and circulation space, as well as a visitor reception area. A one-storey glazed walkway provides weather-protected access to the manufacturing building.

Phase 2 of the project was a continuation of the master plan principles adopted by AstraZeneca to address their long-term development plans for the Mississauga Campus. This phase incorporated three major components: Cafeteria/Servery; Fitness/Wellness Centre; and Auditorium/Conference Centre into one consolidated building and location. The curved, playful forms of the new facility, combined with the light, silver-coloured metal panels and large glass surfaces continues the precedent established in Phase 1 and make the building both evocative and eye-catching for users and passers-by.
