The Bay Adelaide Centre is a signature 51-storey tower distinguished by its modernist form and prism-like skin of clear fritted glass that makes it one of the downtown core’s most transparent towers. The extension of the glass skin above the roof enhances the building profile and further distinguishes the tower’s identity within the city.
WZMH’s design seamlessly incorporates the historic façade of the National Building on Bay Street (Chapman and Oxley architects, 1926). At street level, the tower’s highly transparent glazing provides views to the lobby that features a public art installation by world-renowned artist James Turrell. The project includes an urban plaza landscaped with ginkgo trees and ornamental grasses that frame benches and an open seating area, contributing much-needed public open space to the central business district.
Certified to a LEED Gold standard, the tower contains more than 100,840 m2 of rentable Class-AAA office space, as well as extensive below-grade retail space linked to the underground PATH network.
