Part of Metrolinx’s transformation of the GO rail network’s Regional Express Rail program, the new Oshawa Station replaces an existing facility, which also serves VIA Rail. Working closely with WSP Group (now Aecom), WZMH’s team of architects and interior designers provided full architectural and interior services for the new station, one of busiest on the GO Transit Lakeshore East line.

The contemporary design features cladding in a combination of brick, metal panels, and glass, with canopies at entrances and waiting areas to offer commuters a more comfortable travel experience. Skylights and an atrium provide natural light in the station’s interior waiting areas, which include both public and operational zones for both GO and VIA. The project was constructed while the existing station remained fully operational.
