At Yorkdale Shopping Centre, the revitalization of the iconic 55-year-old building, originally designed by John Andrews, has transformed it into a contemporary landmark with a striking presence as seen from the nearby 401 Highway. At strategic locations on the exterior, the existing precast concrete façade was removed and replaced with glazing, opening up the store and showcasing its fashion merchandise. The remaining cladding was painted white, and a black metal fin with integrated LED lighting was added to highlight the store’s silhouette, creating a dramatic effect both day and night.
