WZMH’s design supports the transformation of the existing mall into an upscale aesthetic and fashion-focused venue. The silhouette of a dramatically arced roof creates a new identity for the Centre as seen from the Queen Elizabeth Way. New materials are used strategically to refinish existing areas and achieve a cohesive, refreshed appearance; wave-patterned gypsum panels cover sections of the mall’s shed-type, corrugated metal ceiling, and interior columns are clad with wood paneling to add warmth and texture. Previously blank exteriors now feature vibrant storefronts that relate to surrounding streets and are highly visible from the highway. Since completion, customer traffic to the Centre has increased dramatically.

The project includes a new food court with seating for 775 people, reconstruction of parking areas and landscaping, and replacement of the entire façade. The food court was relocated from the ground floor to the second level, along a huge window overlooking the highway. Two new ground-level restaurants offer outdoor patios that are accessible from both outside and inside the mall. WZMH provided master planning, rezoning, and complete architectural and interior design services for this major expansion and renovation to this existing regional shopping centre.
