The 48 storey tower located at the southwest corner of Yonge and Delisle Avenue features a plan composed of a series of vertical modules nested in a honeycomb pattern. A two-storey base creates a human scale at the sidewalk level. The tower shape transforms from a square at its base to a rounded peak at its pinnacle providing panoramic views from all suites. Modules have been shaped to create a variety of unit types and balconies of different depth for wind and sun protection throughout the year.
The building is the first step towards a more comprehensive vision for the neighborhood. The pedestrian environment and human scale are important components of this ambitious plan to improve the streetscape around Yonge and St. Clair to create a more inviting and walkable neighborhood by, consolidating vehicle entrances as well as retaining the two-storey datum line of historical storefronts. The development is pursuing Tier 2 Toronto Green Standard with an intent to explore renewable energy sources.
WZMH is the Architect of Record for the project working with Studio Gang as a design consultant.
