Clad in “Napoleon Red” granite, a departure from Toronto’s conventional colour palette, Scotia Plaza is a distinctive tower in the city’s financial district. Serving as Scotiabank’s international headquarters, the 68-storey tower is currently the fourth tallest building in Canada.

Folds in the building massing accentuate its slender proportions.  A latticework of square windows on the facades is punctuated by a large sculpted recess at the top of the tower that creates a unique silhouette on the city skyline.

At street level, a soaring 11-storey atrium links the tower with the bank’s original Toronto headquarters —a 26-storey historic limestone building— to form an impressive new entrance to the bank complex. A below grade pedestrian concourse connects the development to Toronto’s extensive underground PATH system of retail space and subway stations.

In recent years, WZMH has been  responsible for design updates that include the modernization of  the lobbies and public spaces  to create  brighter and more open spaces. A new atrium has become a central hub to the complex, orienting people as they move through the complex, providing a focal point with a multi-storey projection screen for current events.
