The research and development into the use of photovoltaics (bi-facial panels, organic solar films, and Building Integrated Photovoltaics) includes various mock-ups and simulations from capturing artificial light within residential and office buildings to the use of films applied as part of both vision and spandrel components of the building envelope. Studies completed in the lab monitored the amount of artificial light captured by interior facing photovoltaic panels in an office building environment by a customized APP that converted the green energy into the power needed for light fixtures.
